VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT # 28- 18 : Senior Investigator in the Regional Security Office

The U.S. Mission in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Senior Investigator in the Regional Security Office.
Opening Date : November 27, 2018
Closing Date : December 11, 2018

Work Schedule : Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY : *Ordinarily Resident (OR) : CFA 17,430,003 p.a. (Starting Salary)
(Position Grade : FSN-10)



The incumbent serves as the Senior Foreign Service National Investigator (S/FSNI) and subject matter expert for the Regional Security Office (RSO). Assists the RSO with oversight of the Mission’s more than 70 security programs to include personal suitability and criminal investigations, physical security, personnel security, local guard program, surveillance detection and residential security.
Incumbent is well versed in all aspects of threat and security/intelligence information gathering and serves as a principal liaison between RSO and host government National Police, Gendarmerie, immigration and other security/law enforcement senior officials including the Minister of Security and Minister of Defense.


1. EDUCATION : University degree in criminal justice, Law, administration, management, business or political science is required.
2. EXPERIENCE : Minimum of six years of progressively responsible work in the military, police or security, to include two years with supervisory responsibilities.

3. LANGUAGE : Level IV (fluency) speaking and writing English is required.
Level IV (fluency) speaking and writing French is required. These may be tested.

4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Ability to maintain extensive contacts with senior officials of various local agencies. Ability to exercise initiative and resourcefulness in obtaining information or evidence. Ability to draft Diplomatic notes and other official correspondence in English and French. Must be able to use computer with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. These may be tested.

5. JOB KNOWLEDGE : Knowledge of local government operations, especially regarding security and law enforcement. Must be able to operate a variety of vehicles, including pick-up truck, car, motorcycle, etc. Must have valid driver’s license for operating all types of vehicles. Must be detail oriented.
